What we collect

Kay does not store any files. Files are transferred directly between your browser and the recipient's browser using an encrypted peer-to-peer connection (WebRTC). The server only facilitates the initial connection and never sees your file content.

Pairing codes are held in server memory for up to 10 minutes and are deleted after use or expiry. No logs of transfers are kept.

Relay fallback

In cases where a direct connection is not possible (~15% of connections), an encrypted relay server is used. The relay cannot read the content of your files — it only forwards encrypted data.
